Location: Independent Bar St.Petersburg
Join Preserve the 'Burg and the Coast Crew as we celebrate National Bike Month and National Preservation Month with a special holiday weekend bicycle tour that will be a fun, leisurely ride with numerous stops.
The tour starts downtown and will make its way south to the "Deuces" (22nd St. S.) and the surrounding historic neighborhood that was at one-time the heart & soul of St. Petersburg's African American community. Among the historic sites along the way will be the Royal Theater and the Manhattan Casino, which brought in nationally accredited jazz and Gospel musicians including Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, James Brown, Ray Charles, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald to name just a few. The tour will also include a stop at Chief’s Creole Cafe for coffee and beignets, a local business housed in a designated landmark building.
This tour will start at 10am to avoid the heat later in the day but we still recommend you bring along a water bottle!
The tour price includes use of a Coast bicycle and a one month Coast membership for those, entitling you to daily use of 600+ bikes across St. Pete and Tampa throughout the membership month. Or you can bring your own bicycle. Helmets recommended.
